YOGA AROUND TOWN INSTRUCTOR
Kate Stone started taking yoga in middle school as a rebellious move against sports camp. After years of gymnastics, not having to flip over after a backbend was a relief, and the practice stuck. Post-college, Kate moved to Chicago to teach fifth-grade, and promptly felt ill-equipped to deal with the violence in her classroom. As someone who takes things literally, she became a personal trainer.
In 2008, she started her own business, and in 2010 she spent all of her money on yoga training. Kate moved to Boston in 2011, where she now works as a yoga teacher, writer and bartender. Sleep, sunshine and movement can usually cure her of anything.
